Hi everyone. I'm Lisa a married mum of 4 kids (6,8,9 & 10) and an 8 week old boy black labrador who we pick up tomorrow. I live never leeds West Yorkshire uk. I'm a complete novice when it comes to owning a dog. My kids have asked for years for a dog but I've never felt the timings been right. Anyway after 6 months of reading up on different breeds, talking to the kids about responsibility of owning a dog, pricing insurance up and recently puppy proofing my home and looking for 'the one'- we are finally fetching him home in the morning. My kids don't know we have got a puppy so I can't wait to see their faces when they see "Jax". All his belongings are hidden in my garage till they are at school. Sorry for the long post just thought it was best to give you all the info. I'm sure I will be posting again very soon. Thank you Lisa
Re: Hi im new! Welcome from me and my chocolate hooligan of 9 months, Charlie. How exciting! Pictures when you get chance please!
Re: Hi im new! Hi Lisa, welcome. I hope you find this forum as welcoming and helpful as I have. I bet the children will be over the moon when they get home from school tomorrow I've never had a dog either but my daughter left home in September for university and my hubby was brought up with dogs. We spoke about have a dog over the years, but the time was never right due to work commitments which have now changed. We got Harley (a red fox lab) who is now 16 weeks old. She is fantastic company for me as hubby works long hours, and is so good in not being too hyper - I think she knows I have back injuries so doesn't jump all over me. She also loves children and is fantastic with them . I love her to pieces, but there have been some trying times! Ternaya and Harley
Re: Hi im new! Hi from me Emma and my 10 week old chocolate lab Charlie. So glad someone else with 4 kids is mad enough to have a puppy too! My 4 are aged 3, 5, 6 and 8 years. Unfortunately i didn't keep it a secret from mine and I had 4 weeks of hyper excitement to contend with until we could pick him up. I actually think that it was worse than the anticipation of Christmas! Enjoy...your in for a shock and a whole lot of fun too! Ps a tip...make the kids wear socks at all times if they value their toes lol!
Re: Hi im new! Thanks guys. Will post some pics tomorrow afternoon. Naya- I'm glad Harley is a great companion for you and calm as well. Emma- yes I'm defo mad lol. I did think about letting the kids know and pick him but I know they would be too excited and be asking constantly lol. I have been and got them all some plain boring slippers so am hoping that will work. Thanks again

Re: Hi im new! Warm welcome from me , two year old black Lab Sam and our rescue Millie , what exciting times ahead for you
Re: Hi im new! Aww thank you everyone. I honestly don't know how ive not told my kids yet lol. But the wait is nearly over- only 3 hours to go before they meet him. We've picked him up and he is just lovely. He is a very playful little thing who loves rolling over lol. He's just had some beef stew (he had been having home made food) and done his business outside. I'm tempted to give him a bath as he is a bit pongy lol. But I'm just enjoying playing with him and having him all to myself before my kids come home. I will put some pics up later. Once again thank you all for the very warm welcome
Re: Hi im new! Definitely pics of the moment they meet him! Enjoy your bit of time with him all to yourself, Clare

The surprise went to plan - they all thought I had got them some sweets for their good school reports - the look on their little faces was priceless. Thank you all for the warm welcome. Looking forward to getting to know you all and being part of something so special.
Re: Hi im new! Hi Lisa! Jax is gorgeous! I LOVE the look on the kids faces sitting on the sofa! Not sure the girls look so confident in the bottom one holding him though LOL ;D Hope you enjoy your beautiful boy. Good luck! Re: Hi im new! Thank you Jacqui. Yes my daughter thought his boy bits were in her hand- I wondered why she wasn't smiling lol.
