Saba (11 weeks old) frequently has hiccups. I haven't spotted a common trigger, and he doesn't bolt his food. He's gentle taking his treats, but has a mad half-hour twice a day, once after his morning ablutions, and then again early evening. Should I be worried, or is he just gulping down air when he's charging around? Many thanks
My two got hiccups all the time when they were young pups. They still do on occasion - Willow woke hubby up last night by crawling onto him, curling up and having a hiccup fit. Hehehe. I didn't see a trigger, either. Sometimes it just came on when they were asleep. I think it's just a baby thing
Puppy hiccups are very common and nothing to worry about. Your pup will gradually grow out of it (though my dog still occasionally has a bout at 3 years old...). You don't need to do anything about it.
Ella used to have hiccups all the time but not so much any more (6 months). At puppy school they told us that a puppy would get hiccups after eating too quickly but Ella didn't seem to have a trigger, she'd hiccup at all times of the day ☺
Thanks for all your reassuring replies. I was hoping it was a puppy thing, along with running off with shoes, hand towels, clean laundry, handbags, cardboard boxes... Today, our Labrapig destroyed my MacBook charger. Fortunately, it wasn't plugged in!
I was just wondering this and like everything else decided to consult the forum first so glad it's a normal puppy thing. Otis gets hiccups at least 3 times a day, poor pups!
