In the last week I have come down in the morning and twice found sick in Murphys crate. He doesn't seem that bothered about it and both times he has tried to eat it! He gets hiccups quite a lot (even when he hasn't eaten for hours!) and not even when he's excited. He often has them when he wakes up after a snooze. I was just wondering whether anyone else's pups get hiccups and also whether anyone had any ideas about the sick? I havnt changed his food or anything. he just had a drink and then had hiccups and burped! Is this normal? Thanks in advance!
Re: Hiccups! hhhmmm not sure about the sick but I remember Riley having hiccups a lot as a pup. Unless someone here has an idea I'd be tempted to ring the vet and explain, see if they think you should bring him in. I rarely worry about a single episode as it's usually something eaten that's caused it but if it's happening more than once I usually have a chat with my vet.
Re: Hiccups! Not sure about being sick either - I've always been pretty sure why Charlie has been sick (eg eaten a paperback book). But Charlie had hiccups all the time when he was younger. I taught him to drink when I touched his water, which stopped them and has also turned out to be handy from time to time.
Re: Hiccups! Hi, Not sure about the sick, but can add that Otis hiccups quite a bit, and also burps after food. Maggie
Re: Hiccups! Cool glad the kiccups are normal! He Sony just started going out for little walks so maybe something just upset him a little or something. He eats a lot of grass and mud as well so maybe it was something to do with that. Thanks everyone
Re: Hiccups! Hi, I took 9 week old Chester to the vets today for a puppy check up. I mentioned hiccups as he does it a lot too and the Vet said it is perfectly normal in pups. She went on to explain that puppies get it because they grow so quick and its the diaphragm growing, stretching etc. Makes sense really but as a first time Lab owner i thought it best to ask Hope this helps, Keith & Katie
