    Hi there,

A quick question, if I may, in relation to house-training young Harvey when we collect him.

Our back garden has a patio area immediately outside the back door(s) of the house and then the lawn area is a little further back and slightly elevated and accessed by two steps. We'd like to use the lawn area for Harvey's 'business' but don't want to give him any hip problems by encouraging him to climb these steps (in terms of height each step is a little higher than a brick lay on its side). Is it OK to carry him to the lawn or will this cause problems with the house-training?

    Hi there

Your garden sounds exactly the same as mine! But my steps are deeper than yours. I carried Charlie up the steps until he was about 4 months (he was pretty heavy by then!). Then he would bound up the steps before I could pick him up (or had taught him stay!). It caused us no toilet training problems at all. Apart from ruining the lawn! (We later successfully trained him to use a gravel area)
