I am still going to be vigilant for months to come but I am proud of Jasmine. She has spent her first 5 1/2 months mostly in a back yard before I adopted her and was never housebroken, but has not had one accident in my house. Of course, we have gone outside literally ten times a day. The day she first arrived she was leashed to me all day, now she is leashed only during TV time. She also had not been crated prior, and with the help of baked chicken, cubed cheese, and other high value treats she goes right into her crate at bedtime and sleeps for 6-7 hours before we go outside in the morning.
I've never adopted an older dog before that had not already lived inside a house, but it is almost easier to housebreak them because they don't have a history of having accidents inside the home.

BTW, I think May and June are favorable months to adopt a young dog. All those impulse Christmas puppies are now larger and less easy to manage, and teething, and people who are not committed to giving the dog proper time just give them away.

She looks gorgeous from your avatar. Glad she is doing well! Helps that she is a little older so has better bladdet control naturally too.
