Hello, first of all I'm planning on getting a family pet in the near future, I'm currently torn between, labrador, german shepherd or a husky (all beautiful). I'm also intending to go down the raw food route or barf diet. Being a keen angler, I catch lots of mackerel. I'm thinking this would be a low cost and very healthy diet. But obviously I'd like to provide a balanced diet. So how many meals per week could i feed frozen whole mackerel?
    All advice appreciated.

There is some science to this but I think it more of finding a balance between muscle meat, offal (liver), fish, and bone, with a small bit of roughage like spinach, beans. I also throw in blueberries every night, salmon oli, and a sprinkling of ground egg shells. It's worked for almost 5 years and his blood panel has always come back excellent. Bottom line is fish is very good but needs to be one of several ingredients. He gets about 2.5% of his body weight per day in 2 separate feedings. Good luck.
