Oban and the other dog were having a good play and the man asked me, "How old is your dog?"

    "He's eight."

"Oh," the lady exclaimed, "He's a puppy."

"Eight years, not months. Mind you, he thinks it's months."

"Well", she said, "He plays like a puppy."

    :):):):):)

Their dog was nearly three and their other dog was 15 and, boy, was she moving along well for a 15 year old dog.

I hope you get conversations like this and I hope you get them for a long, long time. :)

Sam is coming up for five years old , people usually think he is much younger than this, that suits me just fine :) Millie is an older dog but sprints around like a spring chicken , that also suits me fine :)

Nope, I don't have these conversations yet. People look at my two being bouncy and say "Oh, they're very young, aren't they?".

    No, not really

Yes but yours are too young to be taken for the number of their years in months. Even the most dog unaware person probably can guess they aren't less than 2 months old. :) With Jet and Oban I didn't start getting this exact mixing up of years for months till they were 6 years old. Jet got her last one when she was 12. :)

I get the same, with "oh she's only a puppy still" added for good measure :)

I asked a man how old is his puppy (very small cross dog), he said 3 months. "Mine is 5". He asked: "Years?". "No months, she's just bigger breed". I don't think he knows much about dogs. :D
Kona was about 5 months at that time, and she is quite small.

I have this conversation all the time about Hattie nobody can believe she is 8 years old especially when she is running around, playing like a puppy :) Now that she is a PAT dog the patients don't think she looks her age either, my reply is "just like her owner" ;) I really hope she continues to have such a zest for life :):)

Charlie is only 5 years old but he has a grey muzzle which makes him look older, but when he runs there's no way anyone could think he's older, just no way  x

Homer is 3 3/4 years old. I don't want him to be 4 years old because then he'll be a proper grown up boy. Not a puppy any more.

People ask about Coco (they see I'm having difficulty), I say he's 16 months, 18 months and now 22 months - they kindly say "ahh he's still a pup".
When we moved to the Isle of Man people would ask about Belle - she was 4 years old then - they'd say "oh she's only a youngster". Now she's 11 and slowing down. Where did the years go?

Lilly usually gets "she's just a young one isn't she?" and then astonishment at the reply "she is almost 6".

I always reply, she is light in weight and very active so she looks much younger than your typical overweight lab (unless, of course, they are walking their own overweight lab.......)

When I tried to excuse Ripple's behaviour one day by saying he was just a puppy, a rather grumpy man said "well he doesn't look much like a puppy".

And he was only 8 months at the time.

Ha ha...whenever people ask how old Simba is after seeing him run exuberantly up to their dog with his patented "leap of joy" demonstrated in the midst of the run and I say "3 1/2 years old" they always look very dubious....

LOL, apparently Oban has aged significantly since Wednesday. Today he was a, "Good old boy." Old? Yes, when they are "calm and easy going" they're old. :) The other couple had a two year old black Lab female who would have liked to play but Oban wasn't interested in being bouncy today.

I still call Benson a puppy..he will be 2.5 years old next month. Casper is 7 years old, physically looks fit and well with a lovely shiny coat. I find it interesting as I think weight is very aging on a labrador. For example when asked about Caspers age the other day, I replied "7" after commenting on their lovely old boy, then finding out he was only 5. He was a yellow lab but sadly quite fat.
