My choc boy ( entire) is 3 in October and just this week has started howling and whining at home . Its incessant except when hes asleep - restless and agitated . Whats going on -my head cant take it. Our fox red boy ( also entire and 3in october) seems fine although does add his voice to the odd whine for moral support

Just a possibility, but could there be a bitch on heat in the vicinity ? Some dogs will not react , but others do howl, constantly ,other than this, maybe a trip to the Vet for a check x

Thanks katie -i have to say this was my initial thought as he keeps pawing the front door too but the fact my other male seems unbothered made me wonder . It really is driving me insane now !!!

They do differ , I had two entire males once, one was a howler like yours , the other one wasnt remotely interested :) :) I had the howler castrated , it did the trick :)

Almost certainly the 'bitch on heat' syndrome. Watch both your boys like a hawk when you are out and about - I found that two entire male dogs were more likely to run away when there was a bitch on heat in the neighbourhood that one male dog on his own. They would give each other a sneaky glance, then they'd be off like a shot and I'd spend hours searching for them... ::)

Ah yes, I remember when Hattie was in season we regularly found a gorgeous Black Lab (Samson) sitting at our back gate early in the mornings, he looked most put out when we took him home ;D Helen
