Minor breakthrough today ;D Out walking, me, Lizzie in her buggy and Riley. Much tennis ball chasing to be had now I've found the short ball launcher that fits in my pocket (I really, really can't throw especially when pushing a buggy). Another lab appeared behind us which would normally result in Riley legging it to play. This time hejust looked at me as if to say 'I know it's another dog just throw the bloomin' ball already!! Throw it! Throw it!' He did go and say hello eventually but was far more keen on his tennis ball and therefore ME!!!! woohoo!!!! Oh and it was beautiful, sunny and almost warm - happy days
Re: I AM more fun than another lab I`d say that was a major breakthrough Barbara It really is a magic moment when our dogs are far more interested in us than other dogs and people , well done to you and Riley p.s. envy you the sun, its trying to snow here :
Re: I AM more fun than another lab I'm not kidding myself it's permanent or will always work with other dogs around but it's a definite step in the right direction. I think Riley will need some kind of management or occupation on walks for quite a while as has often been described on threads here, he's just too nosey/friendly to be left to his own devices
Re: I AM more fun than another lab Oh and I have a friend who's a weather forecaster and she reckons things may look up mid April
Re: I AM more fun than another lab Barbara that is brilliant well done to you and Riley. I really wish we could have that breakthrough. Still struggling to get Charlie interested in anything when he's out and about on a training line Helen x
Re: I AM more fun than another lab Thanks Kate for the Seaton beach tip only 20 mins from my parents. Lovely beach, didn't try the cafe will save it for next time when hopefully we'll catch up with you. There were dogs everywhere! but me and my tennis ball are still where the fun is at YAY!!
Re: I AM more fun than another lab So pleased for you Barbara, all the hard work is paying off. Helen x
Re: I AM more fun than another lab So pleased you tried Seaton beach Barbara , the cafe is also very dog friendly, we go most weekends and as my husband is disabled , I park him at the cafe whilst me and Sam have fun and I usually get wet My Grans house where I spent lots of time as a child is one of the ones at the back of the beach, lots of happy memories for me . Hope all goes well this weekend , we will all be waiting for a full report , have fun
Re: I AM more fun than another lab Thanks Helen, Kate, so pleased with him. His tail did a lot of wagging No complacency before training though, otherwise we'll truly come unstuck! Full report to follow

Re: I AM more fun than another lab Lovely photo Barbara , Sam always ends up with a mouth full of sand when we go , its doggy heaven there . We first took him at 11 weeks old , eyes wide open at the sea
Re: I AM more fun than another lab I'm obviously biased but I totally agree pippa And Riley says he is nearly two now!
