After a very short career, I've officially retired from cutting Ella's claws. She moved at the last second, I cut it too short, she yelped, it bled and I fed her a million treats to try to cope with my guilt

I feel so awful! I got some really yummy treats out and made sure she'd allow me to pick up and touch each paw afterwards but I'm worried she's going to be traumatised

    She'll be fine :)

I asked my husband to cut riley's claws just before we went away. He cut 2 (yes he did it once then did it again) too short and made them bleed. We put flour on them to stop the bleeding (I blame Google for this) and ended up with a kitchen that looked like a massacre in a bakery. Riley subsequently bled all over the Isle of Wight ferry when he caught one and it started bleeding again.

Needless to say husband has never cut claws since!!!

In the meantime Riley is perfectly fine with having his claws cut and I just snip off a little bit at a time. If they really get too long I do them every 2-3 days til they're right again. You'll both be OK, honestly :)

Haha, I wish you had some photos!

It certainly bleeds a lot! I thought it had stopped bleeding but she then used that paw to scratch herself and I spent the next ten minutes with carpet cleaner on the rug!
