We got new neighbours recently and the little boy actually goes to the nursery where I work so managed to break the ice easily which was good. When we were chatting his mum mentioned she has a dog (they hadn't totally moved in a this point while they were decorating) and today we met said dog and she is soo tiny! Lola had a good sniff through the little gap in the fence and it went well..... until Lola could hear the kids playing with the dog with a squeaky toy and Lola rammed herself through the fence pulling part of the fence off and proceeded to run laps around their living room scaring the dog and the kids. I ran round to their back gate and they let me in to get Lola out but as soon as the gate was opened Lola bolted out on to the road (thankfully the one at the back is very very quiet)! I didn't have time to grab treats to entice her in and she didn't listen to a single command. I ended up catching her mid bound and have really hurt my shoulder in the process. My neighbour was so good about it but I have never been so embarrassed in my life. Anyone watching would think she is untrained and I have zero control. :-[ So now I am going to have to price up getting the whole fence replaced so it doesn't happen again. I have apologised a million and one times and I still don't feel that is enough :'(
Re: I have never been so embarassed Little minx : We replaced all our fences and fitted a 6ft gate just before we got Harley as I could imagine what she would do with what we had! I'm sure your neighbour will be fine and will laugh about it in the future I used to get embarrassed when Harley would always jump on our neighbour, especially after I told them that Harley hadn't jumped on anyone for weeks ??? I try not to worry anymore

Re: I have never been so embarassed I kept repeating "I am so so sorry. She is normally so well behaved. I'm just so so sorry" :-[ :'(
Re: I have never been so embarassed
She is normally so well behaved.
You're doomed. She will be an absolute horror to your neighbours forevermore. ;D ;D ;D (Seriously, if they own a dog, they'll understand).
Re: I have never been so embarassed They can see that you are really sorry and I am sure will be very understanding, no real damage done, could have been worse
Re: I have never been so embarassed I'm not totally convinced she truly accepted my (many) apologies and she said it just to shut me up lol
Re: I have never been so embarassed Chell ,I'm so sorry but I've laughed reading this,I'm so behind on posts and news but this caught my eye!now let me make you feel better..... My Sister has friends that back onto one of the parks I walk in,they have a female border collie cross who is absolutely beautiful but is a dreadful absconder and can't be trusted off lead or not to slip her lead.they saw me when I first got Dexter and invited me in to play in their garden which is 'turfed' with artificial grass... So,whilst I was preoccupied cleaning up a massive runny poo Dexter deposited as soon as he was granted access to the garden .....he chased the family dog into the house where 6 kids where eating pop corn having a movie night sleepover.....they had no idea there was a strange dog having a play date in the garden....all 6 kids ran out into the garden in their pjs holding the bowls of popcorn over their heads screaming (2 where crying :-[) Dexter had popcorn stuck to his face where he had shoved his head into as many of the bowls as he could ......he was so excited ,he started circling to do another poo but I grabbed him and literally threw him out their gate back into the park.....I was mortified! I took Dexter home and grabbed some clothes and disinfectant to go round and do a better job on the clean up of the astro turf but they DIDNT ANSWER THE DOOR! I was dying :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ I knew they were home! I went round the next day and left a bunch of flowers and a card and we are friends now and laugh about it but goodness knows what she says about me on private! I'm sure all will be well with your neighbour...dog people are very forgiving and I hope you ,your neighbours and the 2 dogs become good friends in the future x
Re: I have never been so embarassed LLL, you poor thing!! These dogs really do try us sometimes... Apologising a million times is all you can do - I'm sure it's fine Abject and sincere apologies really do help!!! What a pain to have to replace the fence.... Lola, I think you'll be paying for that out of your pocket money! Angela, that story about Dexter had me guffawing ;D
Re: I have never been so embarassed Dexter!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
I took Dexter home and grabbed some clothes and disinfectant to go round and do a better job on the clean up of the astro turf but they DIDNT ANSWER THE DOOR! Re: I have never been so embarassed Hahahaha. These dogs sure do test us. I'm sure it will all be fine. There is not much more you can do. Let them all come over and meet Lola on a better day in a more controllable way. They own a dog so I'm sure they will understand.
Re: I have never been so embarassed OMG DEXTER!!!!!! You are sooooo naughty, Riley would do exactly the same Don't worry Chell anyone with a dog knows how they love to shame us ;D
Re: I have never been so embarassed Chell, you're not on your own. I didn't post this, Dad was ill at the time, and was going to do it but reading your post I've just got to tell you here. A couple of weeks ago, meg went out into the garden. I was busy with dad and after I got him settled I went to check on her. Couldn't see her, couldn't call her cos she's deaf, started to panic and then made out a yellow blob in next doors garden. Went running round there to see her doing a poo on their grass. Neighbour came to door and I was sooo apologetic, couldn't stop apologising, but he was fine. Luckily had black poo bag in pocket so picked it up. I felt terrible, neighbour got dog himself so think he understood. I then had to work out how she got in there. She had bits of twig on her back. What she'd done was crawl under hedge dividing our gardens. Why she did it I'll never know. We've been here almost 2 years and she's never done it before. So I've had to block the gaps under the hedges so she can't do it again. So don't feel bad, probably load of us dog owners have had same problem.
Re: I have never been so embarassed Here is my :-[ :-[ :-[ for today. Tatze has a liking for dog walking equipment. She eats leads and harnesses if given the chance. Eats and swallows I'm going to be a Guide dog Puppy Walker, starting tomorrow (yay!) Lots of equipment arrived last week, including the cutest little leather puppy collar you can imagine. The leather seemed a little bit hard so I decided to 'work' it in my hands to soften it. The phone rang ... I put the collar on the coffee table ... I went to answer ... My friend ... We chatted, as you do ... Returned ... "What have you got Tatze?" I asked ... Yep - puppy collar, not eaten, but chewed into 10 pieces. Ohhhhh! My debut is 2morro and the copy book blotted blotted blotted :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ (I confessed immediately and my Guide Dog supervisor was lovely about it, but all the same ... )
Re: I have never been so embarassed And this thread emphasizes why I LOVE this forum so much!!!! Haven't laughed so hard for AGES!!!!!! (Have been on the other end too… Bones once ran up to a group of fisherman at a lake, stole their sandwiches, knocked over several rods, leapt into the water and frightened away all the fish - and THEN swallowed all their bait!!! )
Re: I have never been so embarassed Very funny stories, especially Angela's. Just lovely reading these naughty lab stories and picturing the scene ;D ;D I am sure everyone can forgive a Labrador for just about anything, I know I can xxx
Re: I have never been so embarassed Oh gosh....I know I shouldn't really laugh ;D I think I would be dropping a quiet bottle of wine off and a sorry card. Lilly has embarrassed me several times too but (*touch wood*) nothing so bad, but I think most of us feel its only a matter of time.......
Re: I have never been so embarassed The hole she got through is no more than 5 inch wide and she ain't smaller than 5 inch wide! Houdini dog!
