The site on Willow's front leg where she was shaved for her injection is a little bit inflamed. She's licked it occasionally, but I wouldn't have thought enough to cause it to be irritated. The buster collar doesn't stop her reaching it so if I catch her doing it, I just gently stop her. We're back at the vet's tomorrow for a check-up, but would you recommend I bathe it in salt water or just leave it? I imagine if I tried to bandage it, she'd just take it off, although she's still quite quiet after her op, so might be worth a try.
Re: Inflamed injection site Does it look like clipper rash (red, angry, not necessarily with bumps)? In which case the vet can give you a cream. Can't think of anything else it might be. I wouldn't put salt water on irritation like that. Charlie has a lot of it after his op, something soothing is the ticket.
Re: Inflamed injection site Do you mean there is a lump at the site? Sometimes dogs can get a lump at an injection site but these go down by themselves over the course of a week or so. Or do you mean it looks like she has a bit of redness/rash/swelling from the action of the razor? If it's that I might put a bit of mild antiseptic cream on it. Or just wait till you see the vet I see that Julie and I have overlapped
Re: Inflamed injection site The whole shaved area is a bit red, a bit like the rash you can get from shaving your armpits with a blunt blade. It's nothing too angry looking. I'll ask the vet for something soothing for it tomorrow. I think she'd just lick off Savlon
Re: Inflamed injection site Heidrun beat me to it That's what I used on Millie where she was shaved for the spay , worked a treat x
