I am a cook from scratch if I possibility can person and would love to go RAW (well not me personally ) if family and lifestyle allowed.

I try to use a similar 'fresh and unprocessed' approach to feeding my dog - the bulk of his diet anyway. We're all allowed naughty, species-appropriate treats But I'm pretty sure that the very high quality kibble you can get now, with a varied ingredients list, is quite a decent food.... At any rate, I don't think that anyone should feel guilty feeding a quality kibble! Parts of that article were a bit shrill..... I can totally understand the bewilderment many new owners feel about the whole feeding thing.

[/quote] It is incredibly easy to switch one dog meal a day to raw, if you want to give it a go Jac - just swap one bowl of kibble for a couple of chicken wings. Done.
Re: Interesting read: "Is commercial pet food making your dog sick? Same here, I cook from scratch although not well according to my family : but I try. I feed Hattie & Charlie good quality kibble. When we got Hattie she was on a raw diet and I just couldn't cope with it and having a large family it was just not right for us. I don't feel in the least bit guilty as my dogs get more treats than I do absolute fact!

I ponder a lot about feeding mine raw tho I am quite happy feeding them their high quality kibble....need a big freezer tho I think...and my dogs do indeed eat better than me too.... I plan my weekly big shopping time to late so I can beg fresh fish cuts from the fish counters for cheap for their weekly Big Treat...and sit by my phone at the office on Fridays when it is cow leg bone day at butchers so I can reserve them one each....have to phone between eleven and eleven oh one to reserve or no chance....
Re: Interesting read: "Is commercial pet food making your dog sick? Doesn't have to be 'either or'. As Karen said, adding some raw into a kibble diet (as you're doing) is easy (and good for teeth!). Personally, I think that the only diet I really would not advise anyone to go for is a wet food canned diet. I think that's not good for doggie dental health as there is no teeth cleaning action at all.
Re: Interesting read: "Is commercial pet food making your dog sick? I agree Rachael - though towards the end of his life the only food poor old Bones could digest was one particular brand of canned dog food. It was supposedly 100% meat. Anything else had a horrible result the next morning...
