Yes, I agree positive reinforcement is a good idea. I have a question though, when a dog is behaving in a bad way that you dont want them doing ever again (an example would be my labradors beagle brother who got into the bin the other day) how would I deal with this situation?
In this case, I would Change the bin type, weight it down or move it to prevent access, removing the opportunity for him to repeat behaviour. Distract him with games if he does get close to it, and reward him for moving away from it towards you.
I never thought of that, i always try to call him to me when he does this, he hasnt done it often but when he does he can get into the bin.
