Twice now, while out walking with Chet (6 month old lab), I have slipped on the ice and fallen. When this happened, he got overly excited and would start jumping on me. Both times he had knocked off my glasses and it takes several minutes (it sure feels like several minutes) in order to calm him down so that we can continue on our walk. He normally does not jump on me at all. Could this behavior be caused by him be over protective or scared?
    Thanks in advance
    Sue

If any of my dogs are to go by, he might just find it funny. If I ever try to sit on the ground all may dogs pile in thinking it's a great game.

I just think he’s over excited because you are doing something you don’t usually do. I.e sitting on the ground in the middle of the walk. I expect you also made some sort of exclamation on the way down that got him excited too!
