Hi, I've been concerned that Maisie (10 weeks) is too skinny. When she is active I can really see her ribs, it'snot so obvious when she is standing still. I asked the vet last Monday, and she wasn't concerned. Today she weighs 6.6kg, on Monday she was 6kg. I've upped her food intake and I'm currently changing her food from Pro plan robust puppy food to Arden Grange. She's really active, drinking and eating and all good in the poo department : I'd really appreciate any thoughts. Here's a couple of photos: And Maisie's favourite pose!!
Re: Is she too skinny? Hi Debs, Maisie looks good to me. Harley always looks slim, and the vet always says she looks very healthy Maisie looks like a mini Harley her colouring is very very similar
Re: Is she too skinny? Thanks Naya, that makes me feel a bit better. Sometimes she looks ok and other times, depending on what she is doing, she looks really slim. She is 3/4 working / 1/4 show lab, and even at 8 weeks she looked lean, she's not had that "podgy" puppy look!! Thank you.
Re: Is she too skinny? The little poser She looks much like Molly did at that age. I too worried, am I giving her enough? On the other hand there are dangers in over feeding and making your puppy fat. What's girl to do! Molly is from a working line (though you'd never believe it now as she is crashed out in a patch of sunshine) so she is not as heavy as some Labs. She does have abundant energy. The vet said she was "just a petite Lab" as she bounced all over him.

Debs she is beautiful,we've had a couple of these threads recently so I had this photo handy of Dexter at 5 months the day he arrived to us ( we live in the Middle East and brought him over from Scotland) I understand your worry as many people have commented on Dexter. image by dexterpops02, on Flickr He's always been really slim,and he looked very similar to Maisie from above .....In March he was 18 months and we'd had a couple of upset tums, he drops weight really quickly on chicken and rice so,I've built him up to nearly 25kgs which is 2 kgs heavier than I was maintaining him at ,it feels a bit easier now to gauge it right now that he's probably finished growing ,it can be a worry as they are growing for sure x Maisie isn't too skinny and it's important to let them gain their weight gradually and steadily,she looks great to me x Sorry,meant to put this in for you to see him now... image by dexterpops02, on Flickr This was yesterday x
Re: Is she too skinny? He's a handsome boy! Very reassuring to see the pictures of him. Many thanks for doing that. Maisie looks just like him in the first picture, very slender! Perhaps I should try some kibble and see if it has the same effect on me!!!!!
Re: Is she too skinny? Handsome lad, looks absolutely fine and if your vet is happy then we're all happy. As a general rule, you should be able to feel the ribs but not see them but sounds like it's all under control and you've got a fine looking young dog there.

Oh the blue too,literally my favourite colour!Maybe Dexter needs some new lead wear to complement .....and celebrate! X Sorry Debs for the sidetrack x
