    Hi there!

My name is Jennifer and I'm new to the forum!

We just got our new puppy, Dallas, about a week and a half ago. We got him from a farm of 12 puppies. He lived outside most of his life or in a shed. We could tell he had to fight a lot for food because he was skinny when we got him.

Pretty immediately we noticed he was very very itchy. We thought maybe he had a skin infection as his stomach was very hot and red and rashy. We started with a topical spray/ointment from the vet, but it didn't work. So we were told to put him on antibiotics. Which seemed to clear up the infection, but we still can see scabs on him. The vet told us to maybe try a new antibiotic. So we have, and we are still getting the same results. I switched his food so he's not eating poultry just in case. Right now he has to wear little t-shirts to stop him from really irritating his skin. We feel horrible for already having to put him on such tough medications. His skin right now just looks a little scabby and textured, but not red. He's eating fine, has energy, and plays a lot. We really just have no idea what it could be and if there's an underlying allergy, or even mites/mange. Considering he lived outside most of his life we're leaning more towards mites but we're not too sure.

Has anyone had a similar experience with their puppy? We feel so awful for him and we want him to get better ASAP. We're willing to take any advice!

    Thanks!
