Shelby is 3 1/2 months and usually in the afternoon he goes crazy and will jump on me or my husband legs and hump us and if we try to pull him off he will bite us. We pull him off and he will continuously do it until we put him in his kennel. Any advice on how to stop this. We will be getting him fixed when he is old enough.
Usually this kind of thing is a need to let out a bit of energy or a combination of over-excitement and tiredness. If he's doing it at fairly predictable times then it might help to schedule in a short 15 min training session (to occupy him and wear out his brain) or a walk before the usual onset of the jumping and humping. That might head it off at the pass. Follow the training with a rest in his crate with a nice chew. There are good reasons why you might want or need to neuter him but unfortunately it probably won't do anything to stop humping (which is typically more about boredom, attention seeking, excitement or play than it is about sexual behaviour or anything else that might be changed with neutering). Hope that is helpful
Good advice from Rachel. I found it was tiredness which made Harley a monster for about half hour late afternoon / early evening. I started doing training (paw, touch, down etc) which helped calm her down and stop the loony behaviour.
http://thelabradorforum.com/threads/humping-issues.14757/#post-226443 ^ This current thread will give you some ideas for the humping. At his age it is not sexual so neutering will most likely have no effect on it. He sounds like a normal puppy with too much energy and no where to expend it. And a little lacking in manners which is also pretty normal at his age. Are you taking training classes with him? Teaching him to focus on you and respond when you ask will help the manners and to expend the energy. It's quite amazing how tired just having to think about something will make them. Does he run around in wild, crazy circles too? Some call that the Zoomies and I encourage that, me standing in a safe corner, OUtside.
