    Hi everyone.

I need some advice although I fear it can't be done lol. Holly is determined to be on the sofa she is only just big enough to jump up and is constant jumping up trying to get on the sofa she had never been allowed on the sofa since bringing her home. She gets attention if she sits by my leg but gets told no and down if she jumps up. But in the last few days she is up on the sofa completely trying to jump on kids or pinching my phone or the remote to run off with.

I have tried everything to stop her but she doesn't get it. The one thing she hates is being separated from us so when I wanted her to stop with the hard biting she was told no and put in the kitchen on her own for a few minutes this worked after 3 days but I've been attempting this with jumping up for almost a week she doesn't get it.

Is there anything I can try or am I fighting a loosing battle?? :/

Put a lead on her and take her off the sofa, reward for four feet on the ground. Teach her the word 'settle' and give her a kong at your feet and again reward for quiet behaviour. My Lab has 'mad moments' at about 9pm so I put a lead on him and insist he settles; he's getting better :D

Thank you. I will give it ago. Any other toys I can try to keep her busy a king doesn't keep her interest for longer than a minute or 2 she just doesn't seem bothered by it no matter what I stuff it with :/

How old is Holly? I forget.

It was very difficult to teach Charlie "mat" or "settle" properly until he was about 6 months, and he is only really managing decent amounts of time staying on his mat with distractions now he is 10 months.

This is a fab article, but it's for dogs over a year. http://www.thelabradorsite.com/?p=2742 I didn't use this, but I think it's great. I clicker trained "stay on mat" with Charlie.

When Charlie was very young, and I didn't want to shut him away in his pen at the back of the house, I use a little puppy pen in the front room so he could be with us but not drive us nuts all the time.

She is only 11 weeks. So still very young and maybe I'm asking too much but I don't want to shut her away all the time but unless I do she is constantly jumping up onto sofa and we can't relax around her.

I'm just not sure what else to do...

We have two crates too (we were lucky, and were able to borrow from someone whose lab had just graduated out of the crate overnight! Until then I was moving a crate round the house.)

She has her crate in the kitchen, for overnight and where she is secure if we are out, and the second crate is in our lounge. She can then be popped in there and still see us and hear us in the evenings if she needs to settle down. She's 16 weeks now, and rarely gets popped into it in the evenings, but if she does have an over-excited over-tired moment, we can pop her in and she snuggles down within seconds.
