I know you will all understand where I am coming from on this one... I have gradually been phasing out the use of the puppy playpen for Poppy. At nights she shares the couch with Bones, and during the day when I am at the office she has been allowed the run of the house most of the time. My partner is away on business for a couple of weeks, so we have a dog walker come twice a day, in the morning and in the afternoon. I got home from work yesterday to find Poppy shut up in her playpen, and a rather terse note from the dog walker pinned to the door: 'Your dog (Poppy) rolled in sh*t'. Oops

My mother had very good advice when it came to dealing with small children, and I think it holds true for dogs, too: 'When they are behaving badly, tell yourself they are going through a phase. When they are being good, convince yourself it is their true nature'. Very sanity-saving, I have always found!
