Im not sure if this is the best place to post this but we are going away for 10 days in June and need to book Thor into kennels. Before i go and see the one that is local to us i was wondering if anyone has any recommendations in the Birmingham/West Bromwich area? We are willing to travel further if it means we find a great place for him to stay, and id always rather go off a recommendation than just one local to us.

Most people around by us tend to look after friends dogs but anyone we know of is already booked up.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

How about looking at Holidays4Dogs or similar? I've left W&S overnight in kennels on a couple of occasions and wouldn't do it again; even in a nice place with loads of space for them to run around in, they got very stressed with all the other dogs barking.

I'd definitely prefer them to go to a home environment if I had to leave them.

I was just going to say have you looked into home boarding? Stanleys day care lady does it so I know he's in a familiar environment with people who he loves and I don't worry (as much).

    I don't think he'd cope well with a kennel.

I use Holidays4dogs and have a couple ofrom carers that I book with. Not the cheapest option for your furry friends holidays but I can't fault the love and care mine get while we're away.

Thanks all, we've just requested a meeting with one of their carers. Such a good idea! Id definitely feel so much more confident leaving him with someone like that than in kennels :) It sounds like he'd have a better break than we would!

Hope your meeting goes well. I only leave Harley with my dog walker who does day care and overnights etc in their family home.

Hi @Aimee Lawrence I live not too far away in Coventry and I would highly recommend Holidays4Dogs. Mabel goes on Sunday for 23 days while I'm in Sydney visiting my family. This will be the third time I have used them and have no qualms leaving my precious girl with them. I have used the same boarder each time she sends me regular updates and photos via Whatsapp which is really comforting.

Good luck, I hope it goes well.
