So, weird one. My lab always wants to play ball. When everybody is relaxed on the sofa and there's nothing going on, he almost always comes to me with one of his foam balls (a little heavy but not very). He throws it gently to my hand and I pick it up and give it an underarm loop upwards for him to catch and he drops it back at my hand. He'll do this two or three times and then on the next go, he'll just squint his eyes and let it hit him on the head. Then he'll go and get it back wherever it rolled off to and we'll start the process again. I'm not worried, maybe I should be (I don't know). It's been going on for quite a while now. He's 18 months and in good health, gets plenty of exercise and has loads of toys and things to play with and no behavioural issues (other than that he's a little too well behaved... apart from when he sees another dog (he can't help but go say hello even if they're 300 yards across the park)).

I just wondered if anybody else has had this. It's so strange.

Dogs are weird. Of course, they surely think the same about us. :D

It just sounds like that's his game with you. Or what I call a "dog joke". Letting the ball hit him in the head is the punch line.

I used to have a wonderfully smart dog who loved to have a beach towel wrapped loosely around his head and then he'd wander around the house running into the walls. If it fell off, he'd cry until you tied it back on and he started again. He had lots of games he played (he wasn't obsessed about the towel game), but...inexplicably...that was one of his favourites.

    Go figure!

Haha! That makes me feel loads better. He's a silly boy. Very clever but very silly. My partner thinks he does it because he knows it made me laugh the first few times
