Re: labrador black bitch losing hair help Has she been scratching which has caused the hair loss ? If so it could be an allergy, they can start at any age, the most likely culprit being grass or tree pollen . If she is scratching, ask your Vet if its ok to give her Piriton, it will calm the skin down a lot , also give her a couple of teaspoons of local honey on her food every day, this really does work but it must be honey made within a few miles of where you live to get the homepathic benefit and welcome to the forum !
Re: labrador black bitch losing hair help thanks for the quick reply . she also has a thick dandruff brown in colour and the vet is going on the lines of a flea allergy .but she has advocate every 4wks as do my other dogs . would a grass allergy cause the dandruff .
Re: labrador black bitch losing hair help Sounds more like a mild infection if its brown , this could be caused by her scratching, she could be tranferring bacteria to the site through her claws . I would ask your Vet about the possibility of it being a pollen allergy and about Piriton, its cheap and it works well to calm down the site of irritation , good luck .
Re: labrador black bitch losing hair help but there is no sore or wound to be seen anywhere on the dog i will speak to the vet in the morning thank you for your input ;D
Re: labrador black bitch losing hair help I have just had a blood test back for my dog, which showed up some mineral deficiencies. Long-term some of these could lead to poor skin condition and hair loss - could this be a factor with your dog? What do you feed her?
