Hey everyone. I've just had the worst exsperiance in my life dodger has just been for a run and when he got back just collapsed at my feet !! He seems to be fine now after sitting down for five minuites and getting his breath back. Has anyone else had this happen to them ?
Re: Labrador collapse. Sounds like it could be heat exhaustion ? I would tend to lay some cool wet towels over him, get him in the shade , offer him water and keep an eye on him closely . Has he ever done this before and how old is he please ?
Re: Labrador collapse. Oh gosh, for us with our first dog,we'd have been straight to the vet....Kate's right though,it is very hot in the UK at the moment....let us know how he is ,best wishes
Re: Labrador collapse. So sorry to hear that, you must be very concerned. I have no experience, but maybe get to a vet soonish even though he is ok now? I think I heard something about exercise-induced collapse when I was buying my puppy (in the context of health tests for it) but I'm afraid I know absolutely nothing about it or whether those symptoms would fit. Good luck, please give use news about how you get on.
Re: Labrador collapse. Dogs can easily overheat - imagine running around with a furry coat on, and not even able to sweat... So in this heat it is important not to let them run around too much.
Re: Labrador collapse. Yikes! Scary indeed! Don't have any wisdom to impart except to echo advice to call the vet and get his opinion.
Re: Labrador collapse. Poor boy!!! I too would be scheduling a vet visit. Ore than likely it was overheating, but I would get a vet's opinion. I'm sure you got a huge shock - poor you!
