I have noticed that during the heavy shedding times, our labs often shed tufts of fur, almost all from the rear hips or flanks. Cooper does not like being brushed, so we probably see more loose hair than most folks, but I recall that Tilly and Ginger did the same thing. It is not excessive shedding, and it doesn't leave bare spots, but I will see tufts of hair mostly on her flanks, and some times tail. I seldom see tufts on her sides or back. It's almost like the hair migrates from the front to the back. Any thoughts about why there are tufts and why they are towards the rear end.
