Just wanted to see if anyone else has this behaviour.
Vanilla sleeps in our bedroom and bed. But about 3am ish (sometimes a bit earlier) she will make her way up to my head/face and lick me for about 10min. Then curle up on my head with her head either on top of mine resting her face on top half of the pillow or between my shoulder and face. She has been doing this for about 2months or so now.
She still does the same ritual at about 5am ish when it is time to get up and she needs the toilet. This she did after a couple of nights.
At first I thought that this is what she wanted, so I got up dressed and then said 'Toilet'. All I got was a dog on my pillow falling back asleep. So I know it is not toilet (if she does need it she will jump off the bed and walk into the ensuite and back to prod me).

    Anyone?

I only get licked in the morning when he realises I'm conscious and his walk is imminent...That said I HATE Dexter licking my face so it results in a bit of a wrestling match and usually a few paw blows to my windpipe! Vanilla probably is waking up and just coming up for a little nuzzle to check in with you? Dexter starts at the bottom of the bed and works his way up through the night ending up with his head on the pillow between us spooned in ....mostly that doesn't disturb me,occasionally he circles a bit and gets into a ball and I think he might be a bit cold as our ac is quite arctic in the bedroom ....so he gets the throw chucked over him then!
Dogs in the bed don't necessarily make for a restful nights sleep! X

Yup, I have two that do that. One yellow coloured and the other a chocolate terror.

I`m afraid that , at 40 kilos , Sam is not welcome on our bed, unless he isn't very well , but even then, he doesn't stay for long, he prefers the sofa ! On the odd times he has joined us, he also creeps up , trying to get his head on the pillows , or even worse, get under the duvet ! He doesn't lick , thank goodness !

Tatze is VERY licky (OHs fault for encouraging it) - another reason she's not allowed on the bed!

    :p:)
