We decided rather than giving Benson the usual toys and treats for Christmas that we take him on a special walk on a South coast beach. We chose Sand Banks near Bournemouth which was about an hour’s drive from Winchester. DSCF5746 by morwenstow1, on FlickrWe chose the popular Jazz Café as the start point which welcomed dogs and had car parking facilities close by. Having checked the Tide Tables we found that high water was at 1240 so our plan was to eat first and walk afterwards. It was a bright sunny day with an invigorating on-shore wind which soon blew away the Christmas over indulgences. The beach was full of families walking their dogs of every variety and Benson was in his element retrieving tennis balls from the sea and enjoying being hurled onto the beach by the following surf. You could tell he was a happy dog by the snores coming from the back of the car on the way home! All in all a great day out for the family and one we should do more often. Unfortunately, for jazz fans, music at the café is only available on Friday evenings but as consolation you may care to listen to Benson Singing the Blues http://www.youtube.com/audio?video_referrer=watch&v=4Nb-adxQn2I Roger
Re: Life's a Beach! How lovely! I am very jealous. For a variety of reasons Christmas here has so far been a bit of a washout. Looks like great fun was had by all!
Re: Life's a Beach! So glad you had a good time and so sorry we weren't around when you came down :'( Mmm, I wonder if there's potential for a Southern Contingent group walk? Beach or New Forest?
Re: Life's a Beach! Brilliant photos and a great day out! Out 2 are due a beach walk...they turn into complete hooligans though...
