Here we are 5 weeks since Juno's surgery and today's the first day of extending our walks from 1 x 10 minutes and 2 x 5 minutes to 2 x 10 minutes and 1 x 5 minutes and now she's limping tonight. Back to the 5 minute walks for the next few days and start building up again. Just feel like crying this evening.

Hiya, althought Buster hasn't had surgery for his ED, he was/is restricted on his walks, one time the vet did say to increase his walk from 5 to 10 min walks, and Buster started limping, when i mentioned it to the vet he said he would limp if you just i crease it straight away, he told me to increase it by a minute each day until i got to the 10 mins, once i done that he was absolutely fine.

:( you must be so frustrated, but as Angela said, we're here to vent at even if we don't have any experience of your issues.

What Helen says makes a lot of sense to me - if she was on five minutes, then increasing in one go to ten minutes is doubling her exercise. Building it up in 1min increments sounds like a good plan.

Grab yourself a glass of something nice and have cuddles with your lovely girl x

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the support and suggestions. Discussing the increase to exercise last week with Sophie, my vet, she said to increase by 5 mins on one walk each week to aim to be up to 45 mins of exercise per day by week 8. Also if Juno should start limping to drop the exercise straight back down for a day or 2 and then slowly start again. She had moved up to the 10 minute walk last week with no effect so perhaps it's just the effect of all the exercise in the hydrotherapy pool yesterday and the increase today.

I suppose I'm very aware that the operation will only have resolved part of her dysplasia - the fragmentation of the coronoid process as there is nothing they can do for the ulna which is longer than it should be. I've just started her on a joint supplement so hoping that will help as well and the Hills j/d. Fingers crossed she's better tomorrow.
