Almost eight months since the scruffpup came to live with us , time flies Millie is now six weeks post spay and judging by her speeding squirrel chasing skills this morning , she is now 100% back to normal What a happy little girl she is , just loves life , loves people , other dogs and most of all food . Typical of many former strays , she is an oportunist where food is concerned so we do have to watch her intake and try not to give in to her pitiful begging and pleading eyes : I can honestly say that she and Sam have yet to have a cross word , they have a play most mornings and stick together on off lead walks , she is always right behind her big pal until a squirrel comes into play Heaven only knows why she was dumped , she has been a joy to train, soaking it all up like a little sponge , she is not destructive at all , apart from her toys , especially the ones that squeek She embraces retrieving and where Sam is the better of the two at finding the object , she isnt that far behind , they now seem to work as a team which is lovely . Typical terrier type , Millie is fearless and where it took Sam forever to enter water and swim , she goes straight in , adores it . Her initial anxieties have diminished a lot now , she no longer follows me from room to room . One thing she cant seem to get past is associate with the car . If Paul pulls up to let me and the dogs out , and then drives off , she cries for a minute or two , looking back at the car moving away , we think that this is probably because she was dumped from a car and still worries when the car moves away, but she is getting better with every passing week . Rescues are not for everyone , especially those with children and when the dogs comes with no history at all , as Millie did but just sometimes , its just right . We are so happy to have this little dog in our family, she has slotted right in and we love her to bits x
Re: Little update , Millie x Gosh, poor little Millie, I think you're right she must have been dumped from a car. Still, she has a lovely time now and you are all obviously meant for each other! Xx
Re: Little update , Millie x Annette is right - we could always use a few more Millie pics! So pleased that everything is working out so well. Clare
Re: Little update , Millie x Will try and get some , trouble being that she is a little pocket rocket , everything done in top gear ;D
Re: Little update , Millie x I know this isn't new, and Kate and I posted it at the time (last summer) but it's my favourite vid of Millie (and Sam, with a guest appearance by Charlie - although you don't see much of him as he legs it quite early on ;D ;D : http://www.flickr.com/photos/97932779@N08/10443478224/ Isn't Millie just adorable?
Re: Little update , Millie x Lovely update and a great vid!! Maybe it was all the phantom pregnancy stuff that contributed to her being dumped. Or maybe the human responsible was just a totally unspeakable specimen. Either way, she's home now.
Re: Little update , Millie x Oh Kate just makes my tummy turn over thinking about her being dumped and then the car driving away....poor little thing, still it brought her to you and she's such a happy little soul ,I love she's such good pals with Sam x
Re: Little update , Millie x millie as been a dream girl, ......you are amazing kate, to give millie a loving and forever home
Re: Little update , Millie x She's a cutey, I particularly like her little back end ;D Lovely to see the Labs as well.
Re: Little update , Millie x Oh I love Jack Russells! Desperately want another one, but my husband's not a terrier fan. They're so lovely though, as clearly demonstrated by Millie! I think people struggle with them as they have very considerable brain power, as well as strong wills. They need very special owners, like you, Kate
