Can someone please give me some advice.
Ma wonderful faithful and loving black lab Skye will b 12 in March. She has got lots of lumps and bumps (feels like everyday i find a new one). The vet checks them regularly....(think im vets worst nightmare as im always at her surgery)....and the lumps that have been tested all said just fatty tissue. But now i have found a lump in the side of her neck and she has started to what only can be described as dry gagging and coughing as if something is stuck in her throat.
It may sound selfish but i honestly couldnt bring myself to go to the vet over the festive period.I just have such a bad feeling about this lump.
    Thanks

Hi Annie, and welcome to the forum

You must be so worried about your dog. The dog's coughing could be completely unrelated to the lump, or might be nothing sinister at all. You mustn't blame yourself for any delay, but now you really need to get your vet to check her out asap.

I do hope she is ok, please let us know how you get on.

    Good luck
    Pippa

Hello Annie, fingers crossed for Skye. Do take her to the vet as soon as you can, you don't want the poor girl coughing and gagging... Welcome to the forum.

Thank You for welcoming me to the forum :)
    Yes i am so worried.
We also have her daughter Rosie...yellow lab.She will b 8 in April.
Skye was bought for our kids. The 1st time our son saw her he started screaming and crying....oh weve got a wee Skye.So that is how she got her name. Our kids are grown up now.Our daughter is 22 and our son is 19 and we also have a Grandson who lives with us and he is 5.Now you see part of the reason im affraid to take her to the vet...the other part is me :(
Yes i will defo be calling the vet tomorrow for an appointment.Time for me to bite the bullet and grow a backbone,
    I will keep you posted
    Thanks

    Hi Annie

welcome to the forum, I hope all goes well at the Vet - fingers crossed it's nothing to worry about.

If you want to reduce her benign lumps and bumps you can try rubbing virgin coconut oil into them regularly. (several times a day - the skin ideally should be kept moist) This helps them break down harmlessly but you MUST be sure they are benign before you do this! Never treat an undiagnosed lump as if it is cancerous breaking it down will mean it spreading through the body.

Castor Oil works faster but if the dog is likely to lick the spot coconut oil is a much better option.

    best wishes

    Carole
