Is it usual for labs to have a mad hour? Our new one goes quite bonkers from 10-11pm, starts biting a bit more, barking, running round like a loon, and generally misbehaving (he is very good otherwise). refuses to go in his crate, until 11:01, when he takes himself off and promptly falls asleep for the night. It is not a massive problem, but does wake the children...

Completely normal. . With my two it was 8pm. They do grow out of it.

Yep, completely normal. On the plus-side the duration and frequency do decrease as the dog gets older

Yep , agree with Jen :) My Lab Sam is four years old now but still , every so often, he goes crackerdog in the garden , round the ponds , round the tree , flying indoors and repeating :) He is quite a serious lad on the whole, which makes his lunatic moments even more funny

Pongo's mad hour was between 6.30pm and 7.30pm.

Actually, I don't think there is anyone on this forum whose lab DIDN'T have a mad hour when they were a puppy! Pongo still does 'Dog-Gone-Crazy' on his walk at least once most days. It's even funnier now he is 39kg of solid adult labrador.

Just as I was reading this Chepi tore out the back garden and did a mad bum tuck circuit just around the washing line at 100 mph. Stopped. Looked at me as she was laughing. Then did it again. She's 16 months young.

Mossy does that too! Sometimes 10-11pm, sometimes a bit earlier.

Molly's mad time is usually around 6.00pm and always has been.

She used to dash round like a lunatic, which was quite cute when she was a tiny puppy.

Now, she nicks and chews up things that she wouldn't dream of doing at any other time of day.

My solution is to pop her lead on and take her for a walk.

Totally normal around 8pm in our house.we used to get wall of death and jumping off the back of the sofa and we had to put the old dog into protective custody until it was over with my middle lab Midges puppy crazies. She would savage him so funny. She still does it occasionally and she's 12.

When Willow was a young puppy, it happened at 6pm without fail. So I learned that was a good time to take her for a carry around the village. They now always get the zoomies after a walk and dinner. I assume because it's when they're over-tired. I normally end up calling Shadow up for cuddles and he promptly falls asleep. Willow will then settle down on one of her beds, or on the other sofa.

Yes, usually around 6pm, after supper - a burst of energy before crashing out for the evening snooze!
