All weekend Maisie has been sneezing and sniffing and snorting, so took her to the vets this morning (I really didn't want to have to go back there but needs must) and she had to be sedated this afternoon because they suspect she has something stuck up her nose and it's all inflamed inside. Nightmare!
I believe grass seeds are very common at this time of year. Molly is certainly stuffing her head into all sorts of places
Hope she's ok, poor lass. And the last thing you need is something to worry about. I'm sure all will work out just fine though.
Just had call from vet. The sedative wasn't enough as the area was so sensitive for her so they upped it to basically a full anaesthetic. Annoyingly there was no foreign body in there, but both sides of her nostrils are really inflamed and extremely sensitive. So she called in rhinitis (I think that's how you spell it) and said it could be from allergies. So she is going to be on pain relief, anti inflammatorys and antihistamine for next few days and hopefully we should see an improvement. I can only walk her on roads for next few days and then need to gradually introduce fields with long grass etc slowly and then we will see if it's allergies. If she doesn't improve I next few days she will be referred to a specialist. Thanks for words of support
Oh poor Maisie and poor you! This is the last thing you need right now. I hope she starts feeling some relief really soon, poor little love x
Good grief Frankie, not what you need at all xxx Good on you for facing your apprehension and getting her to the vet I can imagine it was very hard going back so soon.I'm sure Maisie will respond well to the meds now you've got something to treat her with,is she home with you tonight or are they keeping her in? How you doing yourself ? X
She's back home now and currently in Murphy's bed fighting off sleep with me say on the floor next to her. She's keeps pacing around whining and then trying to sit up but keeps falling over where she's tired. She's having metacam and 2 piriton a day. And I've got to ring them again tomorrow to update how she is. I've got to go to work tomorrow, Iv been off today so she will be with my dog walker who is going to keep her quiet and chilled all day. Hopefully il be able to leave work early. I don't want to leave her
Oh gosh, last thing you need is more worry. Can you get the day off work? poor girl hope she is better soon.
I'm the most responsible, square person going Frankie but if everything is / can be covered and you can't ... I'd be pulling a sickie in the circumstances of your week....that's shameful of me to suggest I know Hope your Boss doesn't lurk around our Boards?........
Unfortunately it's not straight forward. I work for myself, but in the morning I'm working at a carehome who have a film crew coming in especially to film me working, and so it's far too late notice to pull out of that, and then after that I have to go to my job at Bath hospital where I have a student shadowing me and my boss there is fairly nice but ithinkshe would know if I was pulling a sucky because she knows about Murphy, and I need to stay on her good side because she is renewing my contract and upping it to 2 days a week. It will be fine. I need the distraction really. Maisie will be with my dog walker who I trust completely. I think I will try and re arrange my work on wed though. Iv just been out to Pilates and Charlie my oh says that she has non stop whined by the front door the whole time. She's still licking at her nose and sniffing so it's obviously still in comfy for her.
Ah, work gets in the way - but it's a necessary evil. I tell Charlie when he looks sad "what do you think pays the vet bills? Seawraps don't grow on trees y'know...". He doesn't listen! I'm sure Maisie will be just fine with someone you trust.
Glad you have the dog walker on your team. I hope that work tomorrow is easy but provides a distraction.
So far work has been good. The session this morning in the carehome was actually quite fun because for that time I forgot about everything. A 100 year old lady was kicking her legs up and clapping underneath! It was mad. Maisie is fine and isn't sneezing as much today which is good. She's apparently having lots of cuddles and snuggles. Im looking forward to going home to her though!
I'm just having my morning tea and you must be almost done work for the day....glad to hear the day has gone well and that Maisie is being well looked after. Lots of cuddles when you get home, I imagine!
