Since Murphy died (3 weeks) I have been at the vets more with Maisie than in the 7 months I have had her. It started with lots of sneezing and a runny nose, which was investigated under GA but there was nothing stuck but her nostrils were very inflamed. So she was on metacam and double dose piriton. She is now on daily piriton and the nose has been better apart from being a bit runny and she's been chewing her feet noticeably more. Anyway her last 2 meals she has had she has regurgitated a couple of hours later . She was also sick a couple of times last week. It has been suggested that she could be developing a food allergy as well, and the other word that was thrown around was foreign body which has now freaked me out! She does carry things in her mouth a lot and chews things if I don't stop her so it's a possibility but she seems fine in herself. So I am keeping a close eye on her and taking her back to the vets tomorrow so they can check her over. I already have a petplan claim going for the allergy stuff that we have been investigating so it should come under that but I'm not bothered about the money. It's just the fact that I am going back to the vets AGAIN! I was there last week for her nails to be clipped, and then the week before because I thought she was shaking her head more than usual (and I was going to Rome the next day and wanted them to thoroughly check her over before I left her) and then 3 times before that with all the nose stuff. It's just ridiculous!

Oh no, I can empathise. Sometimes it seems that we are always there. It must be such a worry; you just want to take your puppy in, have them say what's wrong and put it right. I am waiting for insurance claim forms to arrive in the post for another claim and I think I have made 4 or 5 already and she's only 15 months old.
I have my fingers crossed for you and especially for Maisie.
Apart from going to the vets', if I think Chepi's not responding to treatment or I have thought of a question, I always phone and talk to the vet - I'm positive they don't mind. Tempted to make some comment about the amount of money we pay them but it's not the NHS and they have to live . No, I don't think it's the money, I think they genuinely want to get the animal better.
This is a good place to come and air your stuff :) I wish I could say something that would help but all I can say is I understand and I hope it gets sorted soon.

Just got back from rushing her for an emergency appt after finding her straining to poo and licking her lips in the garden, i rang the vets again and they said it could def be a foreign body and to rush her to their hospital. So i did, they checked her over and felt her tummy and said they didnt think it was a foreign body and wanted to give her an anti sickness injection. They warned me it would probably hurt her but I wasnt prepared for the way screamed and writhed so i ended up bursting into tears and telling them I didnt want them to do it. So they took her out the back and did it. I have stomach settling stuff fo her snd royal canine gastro food.
Inow cant stop crying and think i am having a breakdown

Frankie, she's in good hands. She doesn't understand they're trying to help so she will be distressed. You've been through so much, but keep at it - Maisie is relying on you. Hugs to you xx

It's totally natural to be distressed when your dog shows distress when at the vets. The main thing is for her to get better. Have a good cry and moan, then plan something nice to do with Maisie when she's better, and don't forget we're all here to support you and Maisie . Hugs from me and Juno

I hope you both manage some sleep tonight. Just do what you have to do. Did they give you any instructions for tonight?

Really sorry that something seems to be going on with Maisie. Good news that it's not an obstruction though. If you suspect allergies I might seek out an allergy specialist.

You've had the most horrendous month with losing Murphy. Naturally your coping resources are very stretched. Anyone would feel the same. Just take it one day at a time and try not to think too far ahead at the moment. Have a good bawl here anytime.

Oh you poor thing and Maisie too. Hope things are a little better now. I know who you feel I've had plenty of those moments recently. Loads of hugs to you and Mabel sends Maisie Labrador licks and says get well soon. Xx

So sorry you're having such a bad time. You're bound to still feel low after losing Murphy so suddenly and all the worry about Maisie must feel like the last straw. It's very good news that it wasn't a blockage and hope that side of her health is better by now. I know what you mean about feeling as though you're forever at the vets - between April and June last year I felt as though I ought to have a loyalty card. Molly had a string of unexplained stomach bugs (including being sedated and scanned when I thought she had a blockage) which she seemed to suddenly grow out of. I do hope Maisie picks up in the same way.
Allergies / skin problems are a nuisance, but can certainly be controlled once you know what the allergen is. My last Lab lived a long and happy life with a controlled diet and intermittent steroids for itchy skin.
Hope you have people around who can support you while you go through this difficult period - things will get better.

I hope Maisie is feeling better today. Harley was at the vets so often before she turned one that all the staff knew her very well - they also recognised my voice when I phoned! I had 7 claims put through the insurance because of all if her issues.
I'm sure the vets will be doing everything they can.
This has been such a difficult time for you - make sure you have some you time, even if it involves having a good cry or scream. Take care x
