After a day spent mainly in the kitchen, preparing meals for the week, I decided to knock up some liver cake for the pups.

All was going swimmingly until the stick blender jammed whilst blitzing the liver. I turned it over to look and, indeed, there was some sinew wrapped around the blade. Sadly, at that moment, my thumb slipped, hit the button and the thing whizzed. Red gunk covered me (right in the eye, nice), the floor, the work surface, the units, the ceiling, ALL the walls...

    I have a white kitchen.

It looked like someone had been murdered.

    Sigh.

JulieT, I'm with you. I'll think I'll just order some dried spratts.

I thought you were going to say that you hurt yourself on the blade. Really glad that only liver was harmed!! And the kitchen.

Sorry, had to smile ;D But do appreciate how much work was involved to clean it all up. For one ghastly moment, I thought the 'red' was your blood and part of your thumb!

Another one here worried that your thumb may have ended up in the blender! Seriously the pups will love your for your homemade liver cake..and if liver is too much try these...salmon and oatcakes :)

Yum, yum, look absolutely delicious, not going to show the picture to my Labs, they would be so envious.

Oooh, they look nice! I've made the liver cake before for Willow and she loves it! I cut it up into teeny tiny bits and use it as training treats. Yours looks great, though. And, as luck would have it, I bought a whole salmon yesterday :)

Wow, you are all so dedicated!!!

I wouldn't go to that much trouble to make treats for my children, let alone for the dog!

Lucky for me Poppy would sell her soul for cheese cubes... ::)

I wonder if Harley could eat these? They only contain a small amount of oats, and I think oats are gluten free? The other ingredients are our own honey, chickpea flour salmon and an egg :)

Kate, some people with Gluten sensitivity can eat oats, some can't.
I think it depends upon how processed it is.
You can buy gluten-free oats though, same as you can gluten-free flour.
Might need to do it by trial and error?

I have to admit, I had to check my digits afterwards. I'm never that careless normally! Clumsy, yes, but because of that, I tend to be quite careful.

The liver cake was a massive success at training time this morning, so maybe it was worth it after all :)
