As me and OH have rarely been at home at the same time this year, and after saying I never would, and much deliberation, I have bought a microwave.
Today I set it up and made some bits and pieces in it. But, every time I turn it on, Ripple goes and sits in the opposite corner to the microwave, as far away as possible. Does he know something about microwaves I don't?

Hopefully just something that sounds a bit unusual to him and he's sussing it out? Or maybe.... he has a better grasp of the potential dangers of electromagnetic radiation than the rest of us ;)

What's a supernoodle? A pot noodle without the pot?

:eek::eek::eek: Supernoodles are much better than a pot noodle. As a student they were all I lived off!

Ah yes. Can't you just pour boiling water on those and leave them for a few minutes?

No you have to put them in the microwave or on the hob. Obviously the microwave is better as it saves washing a pan ;):D

    Fair enough, sound reasoning :D
The only thing I microwave are potatoes.. it's worth it for a fast baked potato alone.

@SteffiS hope ripple gets used to it very soon.

I'd always thought there wasn't really room for one in my kitchen so I didn't really think about it. Hadn't heard of super noodles either - obviously don't know what I've been missing :D.

That’s probably the fastest detour away from the original topic that I’ve seen on this forum. And that’s saying something :D

@JenBainbridge perhaps you could give me some tips - I've made both custard and semolina in it today, and both times, despite using a massive jug, it's boiled over.
I understand it's to do with the milk content, but how do I stop it from doing that and making a mess in the microwave?

I didn't realise you could put a lid on things in the microwave - obviously got a lot to learn .

As long as it's got a steam release , like the noodle bowl:D

Or a non airtight lid. Otherwise it explodes:eek:

I cook all my vegetables in the microwave, easier to wash up pyrex bowels (with lids!) than saucepans.

This is a very informative thread :) - just hope Ripple doesn't end up spending all his time in the corner hiding from the microwave .

Maybe you could warm up some lovely tasting and smelling chicken, sausage etc, and make a big deal of it coming out of the microwave so he associates the whir and ping with good things?

(Ps. This will only take 10 to 20 seconds to warm up something already cooked, sorry if you already know that:))

Now you can buy a microwavable wheat bag to keep you cozy ;)
