You know when you know that they aren't right, but cant really pinpoint anything specific ? Millie has been quiet today, not really " flat " but quiet . Usually when she sees her lead, she squeaks with excitement but not today , tail wagged but not enthusiastically . I haven't walked either of them far at all because its very humid with the odd rumble of thunder and heavy rain , neither react to thunder so its not that . Its hard when we don't know her exact age but she isn't young , that's for sure so maybe its just the weather getting the little scrap down . Tea eaten , water drunk but much resting , will see how she is tomorrow x
It could be the weather.....humidity gets them down the same as it does with us humans. Has he been going to the bathroom normally? Just wanted you to know there is someone here....not that I can offer much advice. Sorry. Hope it is temporary and she is lively again very soon. But I know what you mean "you know they are not right". Good luck.
Poor Millie, hope she is just a bit grumpy due to the weather. Casper is very flat at the moment...in a downright mood on his walk this morning!
Thanks all , I`m sure its the weather too , at least she is drinking plenty of water , we have a fan blowing in the sitting room which she loves , Sam has hidden from it , monster that it is
I would go for the hot weather having an effect. Juno has been quieter than normal, wanting to play but lacking enthusiasm to run for her rubber chicken and bring it back. She's fine for a few minutes chasing a ball in the garden in the evening but apart from that the main enthusiasm has been doing water retrieves while on holiday last week.
It is much cooler here after the rain yesterday, with a breeze too this morning. Both dogs are happier, Benson is acting up a bit enjoying the respite from the heat. I guess our dogs here in the UK are just not used to it. Hope Millie is a bit happier this morning
She is still more quiet, calm even . Calm doesn't usually show on Millies radar, but she did scamper around at the woods as usual , so just keeping an eye on her , maybe its just an age thing x
I know this is going to sound totally bonkers, but here goes . Millie gets wildly excited when the car stops and she knows we are about to get out, wherever that happens to be . The sequence is, car stops, she stands up and begins to squeak with anticipation . She also squeaks when someone she knows is coming into the house , or when she sees her lead . For four days straight, she hasn't squeaked, not once . Now I know that this sounds crackers that I am complaining about her not squeaking but its odd as I have tried hard to train squeaking out of her for over two years without success and just accepted that its what she does, end of . But, can you imagine taking her to the Vets and giving the reason for my visit is because she has stopped squeaking ? He would have me committed for sure And yet, its there , plus no massive excitement when the car stops even though the walk itself is as normal, with her being a little pocket rocket . I can only deduce , Sherlock like , that she has found the humidity tough and , being an older lady like her Mummy , its taken the edge off her enthusiasm, time will tell x
I once took Charlie to the vet because he didn't get up to help rip up the cardboard for recycling..... Hope Millie perks up soon.
I know you will be keeping a good eye on her for anything else Kate and if you don't think she's right, don't feel daft for taking her in for a once over x
Aw, poor Millie, she's obviously feeling a bit grumpy about the weather. But if you're worried, definitely take her to the vet for a check-up. Once she finds her squeak again, I think we need a video
The squeak has returned , albeit it somewhat quieter than it usually is, but a definite squeak when I gave them their tea just now , long live the squeak
