Oh my word - is anyone else's dog shedding/moulting like crazy??? Poppy is losing her undercoat at an alarming rate - the house looks like a sheep has exploded. We've had to get the Furminator out, but it is taking so much under-fur out I am worried she's going to lose all her winter coat... It was cold here a couple of weeks ago with snow but now it has warmed up, and our house is warm, and she is just having a major moulting episode... Is anyone else seeing this with their dog?

Yup...Charlie is moulting like crazy. But it's his summer coat coming out, the furminator won't remove his winter coat, but is doing a fab job on getting rid of his old summer coat.

Relieved it's not just us - but this is definitely winter coat coming out - really thick undercoat, it's really extreme!

Huh. Odd. No, Charlie is doing a normal summer/winter coat change. Still seems like a lot of hair, but it's not unusual for him to be this late losing his summer coat. It hasn't even really been below 5 degrees C much in London yet....

Funnily since we've been busy moving with packing/unpacking it's just dawned on me that Juno isn't shedding much at all. Swept the floors for the first time today and vey little fur

    Show off

Ella is going from winter to summer and my house is suffering! We use the furminator and had her hydrobathed and I still have to sweep the house daily and the laundry and kitchen twice daily! I am finding her hair EVERYWHERE! We had some friends over the other day so I pulled out some serving platters that I haven't had out since we got Ella and even they had her hair on them! How is that possible??

I bought my house in 1995 - the previous owner had two black Labs. The house has an Aga, and on the door of the bit where you light the Aga, and adjust the gas, there is a metal plate with instructions. I pulled out the plate from its fitting - I'd forgotten how to adjust the gas - because I couldn't read it properly (as the years have gone on, I find I need my reading glasses more and more...). And a PILE of black Lab hair fell at my feet.....

It sort of sticks around....for years and years....:D:D:D

I'm now beginning to understand why people say "from pet free home" when they sell things online. I never really understood how their hair can just work it's way into everything! I'm surprised they haven't found Labrador hair during the exploration or Mars!

The only thing that makes me feel better is when I see the amount of white/grey hair that both Ella and I seem to be covered in when she's been playing with her Husky friends after training ☺☺

Yes, both of them! It is like it is never going to stop! For over a few month now I have a white carpet on my wooden floor! Also my clothes are full of hairs. We also use a furminator, but only once a week as is proscribed... I would like to use it more often....

Yes, same here, clumps of black hair wafting around like tumbleweed ;) Even in rooms that Sam doesn't go into , it still gets in under the doors , often found in sandwiches too :eek: Thankfully Millie doesn't shed, at all :D

I concur with Mags. Yellow is FAR worse than black! It shows up on everything! Willow's hair isn't massively visible, until J sweeps up (he's a good'un and does that every morning while I'm out with the dogs) and then there's a massive pile of both black and yellow. But the yellow shows up far, far worse.

I've had a black and now a yellow and I agree 100% that yellow is way worse!!! I'm not sure that there's more of it, but it's so much more visible on clothing. Or perhaps I have too much dark clothing...

I'd wager that there's Labrador fur on Mars. Has to be.

I took my defender to be serviced a couple of weeks ago. I'm not big on washing landrovers, they are supposed to be dirty, I think.

Anyway, I left it longer than normal (had to go to London) and they washed it. They left me a note saying "sorry, we couldn't get the dog hair off the carpet sides".

It's true! They had managed to remove several months of mud, but what was left underneath was a perfectly even layer of brown dog hair! You can only see it if you're looking though....:D:D:D I tell myself.....:D:D:D

You want to try white spaniel hair! I thought Riley was bad but all my carpets are a shade lighter as a result of Obi and it's so much finer than riley's it insinuates itself into every imaginable (and unimaginable) place *shakeshead*
