Yay Murphy slept through the night last night!

He slept from 10pm until 5am when I got up to let him out to the loo, and that was me going down and waking him rather that him waking me up!

I was wondering though whether I could have left him till 6 if he didn't howl or Would that be too long for him?

Basically I was worried that even though every other night since we've had him he has howled to be let out to the loo, I was worried that he may have thought not to and just wait for us to come down and that it wouldn't be fair to leave him that long.

I hope you understand what I mean!

Great news :) They are all so different in their capabilities to control their bladders , but Murphy did really well indeed , I think you did right to go down to him before he cried, it might have been too late :)

Well done, that sounds great. Compared to Charlie, I think 7 hours is very good. Charlie goes 7.5 hours overnight at 5 months. We started at 6. I go slightly longer each time he no longer dashes out for a pee, but looks like he would rather have his breakfast first (not that he ever does).

Thanks everyone. Yea considering he's not even 10 weeks yet I think he's doing well at night.

If only it was the same in the day! When he's in his crate he's fine but when he's just wandering about and playing he will just suddenly wee in the house! This morning the back door was closed but he didn't even head towards the door so I had no clue that he needed to go, and then like 15 mins later he suddenly went in the living room even though our house is tiny and he knows the way out.

I'm going back to basics and taking him out regularly again.
    :)

    Hooray!!!! :D

As JulieT did, I'd just build up gradually. Definitely agree that getting to him before he cries is the important thing, so you could even wait another week to start building up to 6am. Maybe next week go for 5.20am then 5.40am then try 6am.

Just read your other post - back to basics for daytime sounds like the plan :)

Sounds like you are making steady progress! Our Zoe is the same age as Murphy and we finally got 5.5 hours of straight sleep. What a gift that was. I feel your pain when it comes to the day time bladder control though. Like Murphy, she will hold it as long as she needs to in her crate, but when she is allowed to roam around we have to stick to the one trip outside per hour schedule or we are asking for trouble.

The nipping problem we were dealing with is slowly transforming in to gentler mouthing but the new thing is a fascination with pant legs. I have dedicated a pair of old jeans as my "Zoe jeans" and wear them any time we go out for a bathroom trip and play time. The methods that curbed the nipping do not seem to be working as far as the pant leg tugging goes. If anyone has any advice specific to pant leg tugging, I would appreciate it. This forum really has been essential in guiding us through these first ten days with Zoe.
