hey guys. I’m Nivedan from India. So my dog Bruce is 3 and half year old now but I feel he’s just too thin. He was the best breed available but right now I feel he’s too thin. I feed him twice a day with rice and milk and then 4 cups of PurePet adult dog food.
I just think it’s far better for your lab to be thin, than overweight. Is he thin to the point that he looks unhealthy? Can you easily see his ribs when he’s standing up? If you can, just feed him more and see if his figure changes. But if you can’t see his ribs, but they can’t easily be felt, then he’s fine.
Thank you for replying. He doesn’t look sick and I cannot feel his ribs too. He’s just too lazy. Sometimes I feed him spicy food like not too spice but just normal. Is it ok? Or should I make any changes in his diet?
I would not give my dog any kind of food that has spice in it. What food are you giving him that’s spicy but not too spicy??
My Lab pup Willow is 18 weeks and is only 11.2 kg She was weighed at today at the vets all is well she had her monthly worm flea and tick tablets.
I have a new Labrador puppy on the way, not born yet, however, I've had Labrador gun dogs in the past. I have found that adding a small can of tuna in water or canned chicken to the dry kibble works wonders for keeping them fit and at the correct weight. Also I've added salmon fish oil to their kibble for the omega 3's.
Judging by the picture, I cant see his spine or hips which I would be concerned about if he was really underweight. Lucius was underweight when I got him at 8 weeks, hips, ribs and some spine could be seen. He's 4 now and is 35 kg which is a bit on the heavy side for him, Lucius' ideal weight is 33kg but every lab is different.
