Hi everyone! I am new to this forum but thought it would be a great place to hopefully get some ideas on what to do for this situation. My pup is almost 6 months old and started this a few months ago....when I'm out there watching him he won't but that is a of work. I clean up their poop after each meal...so it's occasional that he will eat it but it's grossing us out. He's eating the BLUE food formula, 2 cups morning and 2 at night. He weighs about 50 lbs and has lots of play time and tons of toys. I don't think he's bored but I am concered he's not getting enough food (maybe I should add back his lunch time meal) or maybe he's got a condition? Any thoughts or suggestions...should I change food? thanks!
Hello and a warm welcome to the forum. This is a very common problem. I have a poo eater, myself, although she's not tried dog. She is partial to goat, horse, cow and human (!), though. Here is an article on why they do it, and what you can do about it: http://www.thelabradorsite.com/why-dogs-eat-poop-and-what-you-can-do-about-it/
