Veg dioramas are awesome. I feel I need more of these in my life ;D
Glad Obi is having fun. He can't help but perform well with that Lambie in his crate :)

I'll showcase more vegetable dioramas today. If any of you parents out there can explain what a "Potato Bedroom" is and why it'd be associated with a Potato Unicorn I'd be grateful because, frankly, George and Rosie have me mystified.

Obi has had a good sleep and is ready to hit the turf!

Annette, Obi will dedicate his first race to Milly and Milo. ;)

I think the potato might be a bit irrelevant - I mean, they have to be made out of vegetables - so it's just a bedroom and an unicorn. And they might just happen to be together, unrelated otherwise....a bedroom, and a unicorn.

I think the more interesting questions are why the unicorn looks like a hedgehog. And why the person is a bedroom. I think it's very deep. :)

Well Milly and Milo must've been cheering us on as we won our first race in fine style.

    But, more importantly....

Champion Vegetable Diorama, 10years and Under (note this refers to the age of the Vegetable Artiste, not the age of the vegetables)

Although, having said that, some components of this entry seem to be in an advanced stage of decomposition. This is 'The Life Cycle of the Cabbage Butterfly'.

    'Alien Invasion'

    A Cauliflower Poodle.

    Slightly unhinged-looking Rockmelon Rabbit.

    Teenage Mutant Ginger Turtles

Simpson's Donkey. Aussies will understand this reference. The rest of you can Google it.

Champion Vegetable Diorama, 11 to 16 years. What do the over 16s do, I wonder? Is Vegetable Artistry a sport only for the young?

Will bring you more action from the Animal and Vegetable Kingdoms as the day unfolds.

Back to George and Rosie - I think it's a commentary on the supremacy of the human state, and the death of myth. Three-year-olds rock!

Thank you, Julie. Perhaps Mr Potato is dreaming of Potato Unicorns in his Bedroom, having had an unfavorable encounter with a cocktail toothpick earlier in the evening? Only George and Rosie know.

Ah yes, the most plausible theory so far.

    Well done Obi!

OMG! They are fabulous. Well, that's our next competition sorted....

I LOVE the cauliflower poodle - why didn't that win? The marrow shark is inspired.

Yeah, the Ginger Turtles are my favourite.

Obi thanks his fans. He ran in the fourth position in the team, which means he brought it home over the line, overtaking the Papillon* on the other team. It was nail biting. The racing format here is 'best three of five', which means each 'race' actually consists of five races (or heats). Although you don't run all five if one team makes it to three wins in fewer than five, if that makes sense. We won three and the other team won one so we won the 'race'.

*Lest you think that it's a simple matter for a Labrador to beat a Papillon, the Papillon was preceded by three Border Collies. We had a Kelpie, a LabX, a Cavoodle and of course the Obster.
