We have been working hard on Nellys OCD behaviour with moving lights and made some progress . So , the tree ? It will be going up next week and I truly don't know what to do with regards to lights on it ! I`m just a bit worried that even if they aren't flashing , the lights themselves might prove too much ? Maybe just forget a tree this year or try the lights and see what happens ? It has been so much better now that we don't have the sun shining through the sitting room window , casting reflections on the walls, so would hate to set her back , poor little sausage x

Try the lights once - if she has any reaction, just don't turn the lights on again.

That sounds like very sensible advice! You may have an unlit tree this year, if the lights prove too much for Nelly.

I'd go with edzbird's suggestion too. Good luck and fingers crossed the lights don't upset Nelly.

I would put the lights on the tree and try it
Can you turn them from flashing to just being on as it's moving lights that seem to cause the problem. Worst case scenario is an unlit tree - I haven't had lights the last few years as I was worried that they would overheat the fake snow effect on the tree :D:D

I would just try the lights, perhaps put less and certainly no flashing ones. I guess Nelly is used to lamps and electric light bulbs, so she may be ok. Is it the movement of light and shadows that she is OCD about? If so, the still, tree lights may be ok.

Yeah I'd just give them a little try, Kate. I'm sure she'll be fine with some solid non flashy ones :)

Very happy to report that Nell hasn't reacted at all to the tree lights . She was so sweet when we first switched them on , staring at them like a little child would do . Her little basket is next to the tree , lights casting a shadow on the wall behind , but she hasn't given them a second glance .
Am feeling a very intense closeness to Nell now , a profound love , she is my link to Sam , they loved one another so much and she has helped us beyond belief over the past six weeks , our tiny scruff x

Yay! Glad you can enjoy a lighted Christmas tree with no worries for Nell. A little Christmas cheer goes a long way! :)
