While the wife was walking Nero he picked up a plastic bag with food in it and gulped it down!

Nothing we can do at the moment but should we be worried?

Just keep a close eye on him and if he is sick or gets diarrhoea or acts out of character I would seek the advice of a vet. Do you know what he ate? I hope he's ok x

Just keep an eye, but if you are worried at all, pop him to the vet

Unbeknownst to me Benson swallowed one of my socks and the first I knew about it was when it emerged from his rear end whilst on his daily walk. I never wore it again!

When my (much loved and sadly missed) lab Teddy swallowed my mobile phone cover (unbeknown to me) I only took him to the vets because he was loosing weight and had a dull coat....luckily they discovered what he had been munching and gave the intact cover back to me after fishing it from his rear end. I'm pleased to say it was in a plastic bag and it was thrown away after we had all gazed in awe at how Ted had eaten the cover whole!
My advice.... Check your lab is eating fine and is in good physical health

You will have ready wrapped poo ;D

Seriously though, do be vigilant and if your dog is sick and cannot poo, then straight to the vet. However, I have read of dogs who have swallowed plastic bags and been fine. Just hope the 'orange coloured thingy' wasn't something too odd.

    Oh dear.

Tatze ate her harness - the whole thing except the plastic clips. I was so worried. But it all came back - I had a vomitty jigsaw to do a day after the event.

Hope it all comes back no problems.

The vet said to look for any changes, especially lethargy.

I lost count of the number of plastic bags my previous Lab ate. All came through fine. Hope you see this particular one appearing soon :)

It is amazing how much interest we have in their rear ends.... ::)

Simba has ate so many non-food items, I hardly can count them. The worst (so far ::)) was half of a soft rubber soccer ball, he basically swallowed it whole, Heaven knows how. He heaved it up a couple days later

Hopefully Lola will suffer no ill effects, but do keep an eye on her.

The wife thinks the bag was a biodegradable food bag that our local council give for recycling. Being 'Biodegradable' will this dissolve in his stomach?

I shouldn't think it will have time.

Yeah, I think that too. It won't dissolve.

Will take longer than 12 hours to come out. You might see it this afternoon or tomorrow. Delightful, eh? :)

If he seems fine I wouldn't worry. Take him to the vet if he starts pacing, doesn't want to lie down, strains to poo, won't eat or is trying to vomit.

If he seems normal just wait. Takes a while for anything to pass all the way through the digestive system (can be much more than 24hours). Don't worry at this point :)

I can't believe I am on tenterhooks waiting the arrival of a plastic bag! I hope it makes a entrance (or exit....) soon and all is well! :)

Well, it took Amy a week to puke up her plastic she ate, and two weeks for a pair of dirty boys pants that she found on a walk! We didn't even know about the pants until we found them in her bed one morning! :'(
