I've been trying not to pay too much attention on the difference in weight on the scales at the vets last week with Juno but I'm not convinced that she has put on any weight in the week or so since. I can still easily feel her ribs when I run my hands down her sides. I managed to take a photo this morning on our walk so gratefully for thoughts as to whether she looks fine or too slim. A return trip to the vets is scheduled for Friday but in the meantime the weight difference is driving me nuts Juno on the Humber Heritage Trail (2) by Rosemary McDonagh, on Flickr
Something to consider is, are the scales accurate? How often do those things get calibrated? I was so sure the scales were wrong I went to a different Vet and asked if they would let me weigh my dog. He did weigh a pound less on their scales but it was a different time of day and a couple of weeks between weigh-in at our own Vet and the other place so I couldn't really tell anything. Juno looks pretty svelte in that photo, to me.
She looks spot on to me , you should be able to easily feel the ribs but not see them . I used to worry that Sam was too slender, he weighs 38 kilos but is a very tall lad who carries no fat , my Vet was insistent that being on the slim side was far better than being on the tubby side , try not to worry please
Oberon there was a kilo difference, which could be put down to the difference in scales except she had been looking very lean to me and even OH commented that she looked on the skinny side. Juno was weighed on numerous scales the various clinics run by our vets in France and her weight never seemed to vary by more than a few hundred grams. She certainly seems healthy enough and full of zoomies out on walks. She's certainly enjoying the sardines in Olive Oil on top of her kibble for dinner , the cats aren't too happy about it though
Juno you look the picture of fitness and health to me!!! xx Rosemary stop worrying she's beautiful xx
She's perfect! Exactly how a fit healthy Lab should be. I really wouldn't worry about a kilo difference to be honest.
She's a gorgeous girl, she looks fine to me. My vets said that I wasn't to worry about the amount Mabel weighed but to look at her appearance. From one neurotic owner to another try to pay less emphasis on the numbers. Easy said than done I know xx
She looks great to me! Both mine are very slim and I like them like that, now I've finally managed to get Shadow's ribs covered. People often don't believe they're Labradors because Labs are always fat.... I think it's high time we had some pictures of Juno's pretty face, too
snowbunny as requested..... Juno on the Humber Heritage Trail by Rosemary McDonagh, on Flickr I keep trying to get one where I'm not looking down on her but as soon as she sees the phone/camera she's right there
My family had yellow girls when I was growing (at different times) and originally we were happy to have a yellow girl from our breeder; however the bitch whose pups we would have had the pick of didn't come into season when expected so we ended up with the choice of girls from Juno's litter. Up until it was time to make a decision we were going to have a black girl but then when the puppies arrived we went for a chocolate. She's become quite well known in the village already as she is the only chocolate and have to admit I love my choccie girl
