Not a nice subject but I felt duty bound to share .... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/a...auled-death-vet-ALL-dogs-capable-killing.html
Re: "Never ever trust a dog with a child" Of course all owners of family pets would defend the reputation of their dogs and as a vet to suggest that all dogs are dangerous without providing the facts is IMHO irresponsible reporting. Roger
Re: "Never ever trust a dog with a child" Personally I believe all dogs are capable of being dangerous .... sadly, all humans too
Re: "Never ever trust a dog with a child" i never ever leave my 6 year old grandson alone with jasper, if i go to the bathroom i put jasper in another room,.....they are best friends, .....i would never for give my self if any thing happened,....better to be safe than sorry
Re: "Never ever trust a dog with a child" If pushed to the brink, any dog can bite. It's only natural. It's our responsibility to select a puppy from parents with good temperaments, teach our dogs good social skills and never put them in a situation in which they might have to defend themselves with their teeth.
Re: "Never ever trust a dog with a child" Also what starts as play can quickly develop into something else.
Re: "Never ever trust a dog with a child" Thanks MMM. I think most people on here already ensure their children are never left alone with children. When my nephew visits I make sure they are never left alone unsupervised by an adult. I think this is common sense to most people.
Re: "Never ever trust a dog with a child" as much as we think training is 100%< we will never be able to say never,........always put safety first,
Re: "Never ever trust a dog with a child" Pfft. I take everything the daily mail says with a pinch of salt. But it is sad that these sorts of articles will influence so many peoples opinions about dogs and children.
Re: "Never ever trust a dog with a child" My niece and nephew know they NEVER close themselves in behind the gate with Dexter in his room and they NEVER get in his crate so he always has his space ....however they are 3 and 5 so I take responsibility to police the NEVER.Dexter is as soft as a brush and so easy going but who's to say he might be having a bad day or be in pain somewhere that they touch him and reacts badly? These stories are tragic for every single party involved and they make me very sad :'(
