    Re: new collar and lead,

There is a really good youtube video demonstrating the technique.

I have no access to youtube when in work or I would try and find it for you.

The 'fit' is difficult to tell from a photo Lynne, but your fingers should feel just snug, rather than tight.

i have always had him on a harness, so was not sure if it was ill fitted
i am working very hard on the heel walking, :)
have you or do you know anyone that as used the jingler,?
its when he is going out on the walk, he is fine on the way back, i will master the heel walking as i am not putting up with him pulling me, :)

    Re: new collar and lead,

Lynne, if you go onto Youtube and type Jingler dog training there is a Stan Rawlinson demonstration. Personally I can't quite see how it works for heel work because it would be continuously jingling on the lead when you don't want it to. A couple of other videos I have seen the dogs look pretty anxious too and not sure what is expected of them :( I think stopping, changing direction, sitting, zig zagging etc. is the best way but it does take a long time. If you decide to use it I hope you get on OK. x :)

    Re: new collar and lead,

helen i have been practising with it in my garden,
you have got to do the same 180% and go back the way you came, giving a number of corrective waves, and 3 small waves that go down the lead with the right hand, you also use your right hand to activate the jingler, the idea is to make the dog think that its his own actions that are causing the reaction, i e he pulls it causes me to turn, and the jingler to activate, turn and jingle every time the dog moves forward,.....its just the same as turning and going back, just the same only with a little warning jingle
i have just been out to his walk, 100 yards away, it took me 30 mins to get to his walk, when we eventually got to his walk, with all the turning i did, he was at heel looking up to me as if to say YES I HAVE DONE IT :)
coming back from the walk as always it was perfect, he will soon realise going to his walk as got to be the same as coming back from his walk, ;)
oh i will get there if it takes me months, i can not tolerate the pulling, :)
not if i crack this, when i crack this, i will have the pet dog i have longed for , :)

YES YOU WILL HAVE THE DOG YOU HAVE LONGED FOR.

It's because are prepared to work long and hard to achieve it (as am I).

You probably don't realise how well you are doing. Being self critical is all too easy. Stand outside yourself and take a look, you will see a lady busting a gut and succeeding. She may not be all the way yet, but there is improvement.

    Re: new collar and lead,

thank you molly, with the recall my hardest challenge, i got there in the end :)
when i do any thing i have got to give it my 100 %
i taught him to pull without realising, so now i have got to correct it :)
i have come along way, i have got to remember he is my first ever dog, i can now work on my mistakes :)
one of my priorities was he had to know how to behave with children, that took no effort i socialised him from bringing him home, with all ages of children.....he loves them :)
