Morning Everyone. I'll keep this short. It would be easy to just browse online, or even make contact with our vet, but i am a strong believer in speaking with people who actually own labs as all of you have the most realistic suggestions based on experience. In my honest opinion anyway. For the second time Bud has managed to break out of his harness when his excitement at meeting another dog caused him to open the thick metal rings to the point that they are almost bent beyond repair. Any suggestions for an almost unbreakable harness? Thanks in advance for your time. Tony
Re: New harness needed for a strengthening Bud! I wouldn't be able to manage such pulling, Tony. I have arthritis in my hands, so all my work went into not pulling. It's a long job but well worth it. Tatze had a front fastening easy walk harness while she was learning and it worked a treat. She's on a flat collar now. My friend's dog Zaba pulls like a train as his Dad let him, he stays with us often and I simply can't let him pull - so I use lots of treats and we take our time - he 'gets it' in a day or two! Gypsy has only ever been allowed a flat collar so all our lead walks were about not pulling from day 1. I always make sure we are not going anywhere - as it's really hard to concentrate on training the not pulling if you are trying to get somewhere!
Re: New harness needed for a strengthening Bud! Hi Tony. I brought Harley a cozy dogs harness and find it to be really good. It has a front and back D ring for a lead (I use the front when training, or both, and the back is for a casual walk). It is fleecy so comfortable for the dogs it was recommended to me on here
Re: New harness needed for a strengthening Bud! Mags - thank you for your time. I recognise also the arthritis aspect but mine is in very early stages and not always an issue. For me i worry more about my limited strength and occasional loss of grip in my fingers. We have spent as much time as possible with training....Bud just seems to have his own agenda at times so a lot of issues are still being experienced due to delays. The harness we had certainly aided his gentle walking a lot more but when he gets excited his strength multiplies. I appreciate your advice. Thanks again.
