Hi everyone!! I just stumbled across this wonderful website today! I have a wonderful going on 7 month old(as of March 15th) black Labrador names Clarabel. She’s my first dog ever, because my brother was allergic to pretty much anything with fur so we couldn’t have dogs at my parents house. So when I moved into my first home last summer I couldn’t resist adopting her! I also have 2 cats (11 months), Pumpkin and Tubbs, that I rescued from outside. Tubbs and Clarabel absolutely adore each other. :)

I've been having this ongoing issue with Miss Clarabel that I can't quite get her to shake. Every opportunity she gets, she will gnaw at the tips of her ears! I've been communicating with my veterinarian for the past few weeks desperately trying to come up with a solution to her constant chewing (which at first they thought it was an infection so they prescribed her amoxicillin)... however, I've been met with very minimal success. She just got spayed last Wednesday, so she's had the cone of shame on and hasn't been capable of getting a hold of her ears... but I fear once the cone is gone, she will resort back to her ways. I noticed yesterday when I had her out that she has A LOT of dandruff, but since I can't bathe her until she's healed; does anyone have any recommendations to soothe her dry skin? I think perhaps that may be a huge culprit to her biting!!

Hello, and welcome to the forum! It sounds like you have a very fun animal household :)

This article on our sister site by vet Pippa Elliot might help you find some solutions for Clarabel's itching.

I'm sure we've got members who have shared your experiences as well, but it might be worth starting a new thread with a little specific detail in the title, to help them find you :)

    Good luck!
