Poor Holly. She hates the vets.

We had her at the vets tonight as she has a couple of sores inside her thigh that have become infected. We think she caught herself when she was playing in the woods. It looks like a scratch and a could of small punctures. Afterwards she was so keen to escape she pulled us out the door, and jumped into the car before the tailgate was fully open.

On Thursday she's back at the vets to be spayed. I think it's going to be a struggle to get her through the door!

Poor Holly. She won't hold it against you long-term, though. Will be thinking of you on Thursday.

As, poor little girl. She will be fine' though I'm sure it will all be a big relief when she's recovered from all the events of the week :)

Hopefully the vet nurses will spoil her and she won't hate it quite so much :-\
    Good luck!

My previous dog used to hate the vets and was quite stressed throughout any exam. My vet (family friend :)) started to come to our place to do exams as it was much easier on the dog. Thankfully Simba, even though he had a much more difficult time there the first couple times we went than my old dog EVER had, is now quite happy to go to the vet. Go figure. ::)

The deed is done. Holly is lying in the hall doped up with anaesthetic and occasionally whining quietly to herself. We're so pleased to have her home.

This is where the hard bit starts - keeping a young Lab inactive for 10-14 days.

I really do feel for you , my Millie is now one month post spay so its very fresh in my mind . The first couple of days were easier really as she didnt want to go out, just rested a lot, but after that , it wa tough to keep her from jumping and scampering . Onlead walks were the hardest thing for all of us, but the time soon flies by , its well worth sticking to the Vets advice , err to caution , lots of luck for a speedy recovery to your girl x

    Re: Not a good week

Thanks for all your support. Holly is currently very dopey but has managed to eat a little food. We gave her a small meal and added a few flakes of chicken to entice her. She was awake long enough to eat it then flopped in the middle of the hall. She hasn't drunk any water since we collected her so I'm open to suggestions about how to get her to drink.

I've set up a camp bed and sleeping bag beside her bed and will stay with her tonight.
