    Just back from the vets. Harley has been rushed into surgery with an infected womb. Vets very concerned. I can't stop crying. Hubby is on his way home. Haven't told Oj as she is at work and don't know if I should tell her or not?

    Oh Ternaya I am so very sorry, was this picked up when you took her about the lump or did you notice she wasn't well? I will be thinking about you all today and please, please let us know how Harley is after the surgery. If if were me I would tell my children but you will know what to do, listen to what your heart tells you :'( :'( xx

    Oh no, poor girl. How awful. I really hope she is ok.

    How was this diagnosed?

    (My mum and dad didn't tell me when my pup was poorly when I was a kid and I was very unhappy about it, I would really have rather known. But you will know best what to do for your own family).

    Ah bless you, I'm so sorry to read this. You must be so worried, lots and lots of hugs to you. Will be thinking of you all day. As regards telling OJ, it's hard to decide best thing to do. I think you probably should tell her. I think she'd be very upset if you didn't. You know her best, if it were me I would want to know. Harley is in good hands and they will do everything they can for her.

    Re: Not good :(

    I will let you know when she is out of surgery. I took her in this morning for the lump on her head (in growing hair follicle) and I mentioned that I had seen discharge over the past few days. They checked her and explained it was pus, took her temperature and she is running a high temperature, they felt her tummy and said they are 99% sure it is an infected womb and it's a good job I took her in today or it could of been fatal.
    Think I'm going to phone Oj and get her to come home.
    Thank you all x

    Oh my goodness… All fingers crossed that the operation goes well and that Harley is ok. What a terrible shock, and what a good thing you took her in.

    Both Heidrun and Pippa have dogs that had to have emergency operations to save them from the dreaded pyometra; both recovered fine.

    Oh Naya I'm so sorry!! If they caught it before she started looking unwell then I'm sure they have caught it early. Good job you took her to the vets today for something else. I'm guessing they're going to Spey her now then? I think that's generally the treatment for a pyometra.

    Penny sends licks and says getting speyed isn't really all that bad as you get lots of fuss while you're recovering - the only bad thing is you can't go swimming for a while!

    Oh, what a shock but so fortunate that you took her to the vets today. Fingers crossed for a full recovery. My Caddie was showing early signs of an infection when I had her spayed, but it wasn't a full blown pyometra. All the best.

    Thank goodness for that lump on her head.... I hope that she is just fine. I know how incredibly worried you must be, but she is in good hands.

    I personally would tell any family members old enough to understand that she is sick and is having an operation.

    Big hugs.

    On the plus side it is an open pyometra which means the pus could escape the uterus to a degree, I have seen many pyometra ops and with luck you have caught it early. So fingers crossed for you, I can imagine how you feel when your beloved dog is undergoing surgery.

    Oh no! Just seen this too. What a worry for you. It sounds like it was caught before she was really unwell with it so here's hoping all goes well and not too traumatic. Poor Harley. Poor you. I think you probably need your daughter. {{{{hugs}}}}
